Wondering What Your Home is Worth?
Real Estate values are established
by actual sales, the price someone was willing to pay
for a particular location with its specific features and
condition. They are not based on what prices people are
asking (wishes) or appraisals (opinions). As with all
things in life, you can only know the true value of a
property by comparing it to actual market data for
similar properties that have sold.
POTENTIAL HOME SELLERS - Your home may
be worth more than you think, particularly if you lived
there for many years and have not been active in today's
market. Due to the lower interest rates of the previous
years (remember the Carter years?) and a strong economy,
homes prices have been at record levels and are still
appreciating at an accelerated rate. This combined with
new tax breaks (see Capital Gains Relief in Real Tulsa
News) may make it the perfect time to knowledgeably
market your home.
POTENTIAL HOME BUYERS - Don't make an
uninformed offer on a home just to take advantage of
today's low interest rates. Unless you know what homes
in that area are selling for, the money you save on
interest may be offset by overpaying for a property.
REMODELERS - Unless you're planning to
remain in your home until you are horizontal, don't
start a major renovation without knowing if your project
will out-build the sales price your neighborhood can
carry.
